Thats the normal policy. The idea is to put new trucks on the longest runs to shake any issues out. We only get 1 year warranty on them. That said, individual barns have different needs. Can anyone explain to me the policy on truck assignment Linehaul gets preference over city right The least mild trucks go on the longest run correct
Tractors are assigned to the run based on miles. City can be flexible. What's the problem your having?Have you ever heard in the Con Way policy that only night Linehaul has a sign tractors
Are they out on night runs? Is that why they are not there for the day run? What were running into here is when our day linehaul assigned tractors are not available to us. Our city dispatch is giving us million mile Sterlings to take out on 500 mile 10 hour runs and keeping the less mile freightliners in the city
Maybe you need to sit with your TM and discuss.Yes or in shop
That sucks! What were running into here is when our day linehaul assigned tractors are not available to us. Our city dispatch is giving us million mile Sterlings to take out on 500 mile 10 hour runs and keeping the less mile freightliners in the city
Being in the city my whole time here , I've never wanted to see the tractor policy. Would you share what was shown to you by your regional HR?That's funny you should mention that I have went to our TM twice and he backs up our dispatch, then I went to our regional HR and they showed me the policy pretty much contradictive of what they're doing . Have you guys ever seen the company policy on the trucks it's very interesting
It has always pissed me off when drivers say "its not your truck, it says Con-way on the door" when someone has got my tractor. It may say Con-way on the door but I am the one that cleans it every day, keeps it smelling nice, and takes care of it like I did own it.

Our barn had Day LH assigned tractors but they stopped after years of doing it due to guys screwing around and waiting on "THEIR" tractor delaying freight flow so Night LH is all that has it now .I'm out of class one service center with day L/H and also a night and daytime FAC. As long as I've been here (19yrs) Day L/H never had assigned trucks. They take what is available. The early dispatch Night L/H trucks 18:30-19:30 stay in the city, as our day L/H isn't back in time for them. Our city for the most part has assigned trucks as well. Our Day time L/H does not. We are told this during Bid time so we know that if we bid Day time L/H we wont have an assigned truck.
Ah who cares? I don't. I'd go back to the Fords if they'd put A/C in them. Sitting in someone else's swamp ass was horrible and the Smell , the Smell was even worse even with a seat cushion every bump was like a fresh wet fart . AH the not so fresh good ol daysPolicy changes every few years. I ran linehaul with the same Sterling for 4 years (was offered a new truck, but allowed to "pass"). Then policy changed and I ran L/H with a million mile plus POS for a year. Then I got a new Cascadia every year for a few years. Then I got a 1 or 2 year old Cascadia for a few years. Who knows what will be next?
