a couple drivers have told me if you switch from city to line or vice versa at your same barn that your new seniority date is the day you put in for your transfer. Is that true?

I've always assumed it's the first day worked in your new position.

Yes. Be advised...if you are a city driver, and switch to LH, and decide to go back to city, you start all over at the bottom of the city list. Does not matter how much time you have with the company. I know firsthand of many guys who were city, switched to LH, then wanted back in to the city because they couldn't handle the switch. They were treated like a rookie, usually taking the worst deliveries, and the worst and least amount of hours. Make an informed decision, because there is no turning back. Your seniority date goes by when you started your "new" position.

Sounds like another case of inconsistency. At my barn, seniority reigns as far as vacation goes. And we have had guys quit because they went city to LH back to city, and started all over at the bottom.
