...Also, a Teamster member honoring the strike line in Oregon was purposely struck and injured by a vehicle driven by an employee of a private security firm hired by Oak Harbor. The intentional injury was the second time in a week that a striking Teamster was targeted and hurt, showing the lengths the company will go to in attempts to break the resolve of striking workers.

Teamster Bryan A was deliberately struck and slammed to the ground Oct. 7 by the security guard's car when he was standing with other Teamsters outside a heat treating company in Clackamas, Oregon that is a customer of Oak Harbor. He was taken to an urgent care facility, and a hit-and-run report has been filed with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Transport Workers and Garment Workers Call on Gap Inc. to Stop Using Oak Harbor Freight Lines

And this is from a company that use to think its employees were "...the core of our business and our point of connection with customers..."
Oak Harbor Freight Lines

I guess they will continue to beat us into submission.

PS: Ed, the wooden shoes have dry rot.

Sure, get mad at me. But the person who was hit, I'm sure this could've been avoided. Some of the strikers need to remember there are some crazy people behind the wheels of those trucks and vans. Another time in the joint is nothing to them. I know you may think you are justified in what you're doing, but always look out for the mad man behind the wheel. I wouldn't be so foolish to die for standing up to what you believe in on a strike line. Be careful, keep away from the replacements while they're driving near you or others, you cant always trust everyone to obey the law.

Plus the police have the video and our guy stepped in front of the car...they said next time they file a false police report (that's what they call when a guy lies to them and then a camera shows he's screwed up and faked!) next time our picket captain and the Brother go to jail.

We all been around a picket line where one of our yahoos steps out in front of a truck or car and claims to be hit...now these goons in security all carry a video camera and you can't get away with it anymore! Let's keep our guys straight and not give the VP's anymore reason to mess with us.

Stay Strong Brothers

I've seen picketers purposely get in the way of a car.
They seemed to impede the driver from going about their business by purposely getting up front and personal with the vehicle.
All this could have been avoided.
It really is hard to believe in this day in age, anyone would be dumb enough to purposely target a human being with his/her car or truck.

Be aware of your surroundings. See a car? Get out of the way. Simple.

That would be Assault With A Deadly Weapon.

This might be a little off, but why is your security people video taping us as we go by to work. I and others work next door to you all, and every time I go by your yard (Portland), the rent a cop whips out his camera and starts to video me. There are some others in the office and other drivers that this happening to. I thought that they needed express written consent in order to tape us or does this make them feel important. Just wondering.

Back to topic, be careful, don't think you all can go against a car it isn't worth it, your life is more important.

Is there any news on progress, any return to the table. Best of luck.

In the case of a car I would guess they think you might be :censored2: and someone might do something to them. It kind of bugs the rent-a-cops when you toot the horn when you go past. Just smile and give them the one finger salute when you go past.:tongue0002:

I think there will be more about this story coming out but it may be several months before it is official.

As far as progress, nothing worth mentioning.

Where did your information come from?
Bryon A. was hit and did not jump in front of the car, the
security driver that hit him was filming it as he was driving and hit him and knocked him
to the ground as he was moving towards a vehicle to follow one of those
replacement drivers.
A Police report was filed with the Clackamas County Sherriff
office as a Hit and Run as the driver did not give contact
information and left.
A few days later Bryon A. was following another truck in Washington and realized the
security escort was the same
one that had hit him, at that point a phone call was made
to the Clackamas County Sherriff and they were informed
where Bryon A. was and that he was following this
same security person. It was out of the Sherriffs jurisdiction
so the information was forwarded to the Washington authorties who
stopped him (security) on the freeway to see about the hit and run, somehow in the
information forwarding the Washington authorties were led to believe that this had
just happened in thier state and yes they were upset until
a supervisor officer showed up and straightened it all out.
At that point Bryon A. was informed the security driver was
a off duty Oregon Law Officer, what jurisdiction was not
said. The Washington officers did get his information
forwarded to the proper Clackamas officers and there
still are alot of questions to be answered including
was he a Union represented employee crossing over our
lines multiple times following us and filming us?.
There were as i understand it close to 7 witnesses when
Bryon A. was hit including a passerby.
I do admit that there are people that do stupid crap
on the line, but not in this case.

I don't know about your part of the country, but around here all the cops are union:hysterical:, but they have no qualms about picking up security jobs off duty at job actions (except the State Police). They are union only in terms of looking out for themselves.:chairshot:

This did happen around Oct 7th but it could not move
forward till the idenity of the driver was known.
The security outfit was asked about the driver
and would not disclose his information, so it was
dead in the water until he was spotted again and
now that his idenity is known this will move forward.
Some people were quick to say things they did not know
to be factual, I made a effort on friday 10-17 to talk
to Bryon at length as to what happened. This is however
only one side of a story but as stated earlier there were
many witnesses.

I was there!

I was there when this moonlighting Oregon police officer knocked Bryon A. down, as were five other Teamsters, and my 10 year old daughter. It was intentional on the security goons part. I did see it, and the only reason I did not get it on film was because A: we were all headed for our vehicles, and the camera was not on, and b: because I could not believe what I was seeing.
This is a pic of the individual, that thinks it's o.k. to knock people down with cars.

Gap Trying to Make Money by Closing U.S. Stores, Expanding East

Patrick Robinson can't make the Gap cool again all on his own. That would be like convincing the *****cat Dolls to wear fabrics that breathe — not a one-man job. Robinson has spiffed up the clothing Gap sells, but they're still not selling as much of it as they need to, and their investors aren't pleased. So yesterday Gap executives held a meeting for Wall Street analysts to talk about how they're going to turn their brands (Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy) into ones consumers want to spend money on. Gap CEO Glenn Murphy said the company would strive for consistency in "product aesthetic." Also, they're going to stop wasting so much space, real-estate-wise, and put GapBody and babyGap products in adult stores. We know — store closures are shocking these days, but we are tired of stores that put the same pair of pants on seven different racks in attempt to make it seem like they are actually different kinds of pants.
But proving that when one door closes, another opens, Gap plans to expand abroad with new stores in Greece and Moscow, and possibly China, India, or other places "east of France." Glad to see they're finally catching on to the profitability of Eastern expansion. It happened at about the same rate they realized their pre-Robinson khakis were dowdy. But hey, at least they're consistent.
