WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —
The Board of Directors for United Furniture Industries (UFI) has announced the decision to terminate the employment of all its employees effective Nov. 21.

WXII 12 News received a copy of two letters sent from the company. The first one was sent at 11:49 p.m. Monday and said: "We ask that all employees not report to their work locations tomorrow November 22, 2022."

Another e-mail was sent to all United Furniture Industries teammates and department leaders at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday.

The immediate termination applies to all employees with the exception of "over-the-road drivers that are out on delivery," the memo said. "Your layoff from the Company is expected to be permanent and all benefits will be terminated immediately without provision of COBRA."
