United we stand, divided we fall. History has proven time and again. If this is true, then why do we let management divide us? When would it be a good time for all of us to come together? From coast to coast we should come together.

The news I've been watching has been showing united falling and history showing itself over and over.
We are divided just like any other outfit.
Scheduled drivers: only runs what they are scheduled to do
P&d: run daytime city work only
Utility: these guys are required to know the most and work any shift and work anyones run including hub, p&d, and dock. These guys will do it all and yet be put on the backburner in all job classifications.
Hub: runs linehaul schedule with some dockwork.

When do we change the fact that we divided?

We'll start changing in the morning. I'll let you know Wednesday which terminal was shut down because of some buisness decission.

Didn't the Beatles do that song?

And by "come together" you mean.....

This is just a suggestion, but now might not be the best time to try recruiting.

Because there are too many full-of-themselves a-holes in this country who think they are able to do everything themselves, with no help from anyone. Also, in the case of unions, they made this country a better place. Without them, management would have sucked up all the money for themselves, like is happening now. But people like Rush Limbaugh went around telling people that unions are "socialist", the dummies believed it, and have played right into management's hands by no longer supporting them.

No one that seriously considers the issue would argue what organized labor did to improve working conditions in the past. But your fellow Teamsters have admitted in their own posts that your union doesn't have the power and influence it used to, and YRCW is proving that union or not, the companies are still in control. From my personal point of view, whatever unions have accomplished in the past, you have nothing to offer me now. Your own members talk of wasted dues payments, dishonest and ineffective leaders and unstable pensions. What exactly are you going to do to improve the work environment for my coworkers and I? Unions do nothing to actually help the companies make money, and your own members do not paint a flattering picture of the realities of what the union claims versus what it actually delivers. You're trying to sell ice to eskimos.

Well I am going to just call a rabbit a rabbit and a skunk a skunk, this post sounds like a union recruiting message and I for one am not ready for that. I don't need anyone to negotiate my benefits or pay for me and then charge me for it. I also don't need our company to be put against the ropes like YRC, ABF, New Penn and others. I am perfectly happy with things the way they are. I know this is not a perfect company and some things need to be changed but lets be honest we have it made compared to others in this industry. Anyone not happy here should move on to something else, last time I checked we are not indentured slaves here, We have a choice.

Maybe it is time to unionize.

Once again, WHY??? Do you have any arguments to back up your suggestion? I mean, besides empty rhetoric like "divided we fall"? Give me real, logical, relevant reasons why I should want the union. I put this a little more politely in a previous post, but I'll be a little more blunt this time. I don't give a rat's a$$ about the former glory days of the teamsters. What does THIS CURRENT version of the union, in TODAY'S economy and TODAY'S labor market, have to offer?

It does help keep the lazy, slobs on payroll longer. That's one of the positives I guess. The negatives are answered on the news, talk radio, union forums and the stock market. (ok ya'all tear it up now)
