Yellow | UPS’s Union Rejects Labor Contract, Raising Risk of Strike

Well actually Ford did get screwed, they didn't get all the wage and benefit cuts GM and Chrysler did. GM and Chrysler got a thirty billion gift from Obama, for their pension and health care funds. Legacy cost ford still had to pay. Ford also is probably still paying on the loans it took out when it mortgage the company. GM and Chrysler got the bailout.
if Ford knew the bailouts were coming, they would have never taken out loans. That would be stupid business. They roll the dice they took their chances!

What percentage of UPS Teamsters voted? And who handles counting the numbers?

From a post in another thread...

"Despite of all of these efforts made by the NNC, Local Unions and individual members to encourage voting, only 44.3 percent of the eligible UPS membership participated in the ratification referendum on the National Master Agreement. Of the 209,043 members who were eligible to vote, only 92,604 (44.3%) cast a vote. The results of the tabulation show that 42,356 (45.8%) voted for the proposed contract and 50,248 (54.2%) voted against it."

That's the way our NFMA spells it out. Bottom gets laid off.

We fought for it after the last MOU, I believe, locally. Never went to Joint Council, but it allowed senior men the option of seeking other employment without losing seniority. Once the ‘full’ recall occurred, it was not rescinded by the company. Couple of guys don’t like to work year round or prefer not to be forced to certain shifts. Taking the lay-off is chancey, but allows more freedom.

Now it’s moot. Everyone is maxing out on hours and no one even contemplates lay-off. :17142:

Well actually Bill, Ford didn't want to screw it's employees by filing bankruptcy like GM and Chrysler. In a normal bankruptcy, pensions and benefits are eliminated. Wages reduced. Obama threw out bankruptcy law and bought 30 billion in political good will from the UAW. Ford did the right thing, Obama and his Wall St. buddies did O.K. too. Wall St. got pennies on the dollar, for what should have been theirs. Then again Wall St. didn't get prosecuted by Obama, Holder.

Operating engineers all face layoffs annually. They have subsistence benefits negotiated 4 when they are laid off, to square them up to 40 hours of pay

What you haven't heard of could fill a Warehouse.
Actually Bill, you don't understand the difference between compensation and padding the pay roll. Bill your comprehension skills are lacking, that warehouse full of information is Greek to you.

actually, your dead wrong, like usual. ford continuing their pension is something they could have continued. they cut everything to the bone like gm and fca.

actually, you are giving me the fox news version of what happened, where it was all the uaw (who already sold 2 tier workers down the river)were still somehow at fault. gee, it wouldn't be that big lumbering idiot company keeps engineering garbage, would it?
