We have part time dock workers at our center, they leave and work at UPS part time . while at fedx they wear Ups tossil caps, hoodies , etc. while working here we have customer pickups, dropoffs, etc. We have been slow in the city ,and have been leaving the hubs early . I wonder what would happen if we worked with Ups attire and talked about the union , how fast we would be gone .:Flame-On:

Duuuuuuuuude.
You can't use that word here. Having had prior experience in that environment (u word). They would more likely have trouble with their (u word) local for working at a non (u word) company.

I was told when I had dock training that I couldn't wear anything that condoned union.

The dont provide a uni as long as its not a hate on whatever or offenseve I would wear it I wear ups nascar stuff to work because I think its funny when my boss looks at me weird .....F em if they cant take a joke or any talk of organizing

We had a city driver who had a T-shirt made up. It was a red shirt with a flag background and across the flag it had printed in LARGE black letters FEDUP with the fedex logo and the UPS LOGO. He got out of his car and walked into the building and was told by center mgr. to go home until he could meet the uniform dress code. You have 1 day or it would be considered a voluntary quit, for violating uniform policy.

We have a Conway driver working our dock (Saia), in Charlotte some nights. He wears his Conway uniform in, but I have not heard him say anything about Conway. We don't have a dress code for our dockworkers anyway like you guys do.

As far as I know, if you are part time you can work where ever you want to...and dockworkers can wear what ever they want as long as it is not harrassment..

What gets the guys mad is not what they wear, but the fact they are working while road drivers are working reduced dock hours at the hub with no work back at the home barn. As well as city drivers at sitting home and not even getting a full days work.

Where do you get your information from?
This is nothing but pure psychobabble coming from a poster, uninformed on the ways of the union.

There is no contract language anywhere that prevents a union man from working nonunion if he needs the work. I know of many people that have taken nonunion jobs where they could, while on lay-off.

Dang, all this u---- talk and Jeff hits me with a 5 point infraction for using the word contract and I was not even referring to a u----.

OH, BROTHER! We need the company to take care of the SKILLED labor force, not cater to the part timers. There are other ways to save money, for example, turn off the internet to the hub docks. Then maybe this would free up some supervisors to help build decks and secure loads instead of shopping on e-bay.

Psychobabble

I think someone just found the thesaurus . I dont care where they work , but lets face facts ,they work for a u-word competitor , why not take work from other u-word companies. Our center laid guys off ,brought them back part time with no benefits, limit of time to 25 hours . Why not eliminate those UPS and keep your bread and butter working.

Sounds like you may need to consider the U-word.:loser:
