I've been talking with a UPS recruiter about joining the dedicated flatbed fleet. Can anyone give me the lowdown and what to really expect?

Thanks,
Stogi

Yes it is. I talked to the terminal manager from where they are dispatched out of. He was a straight talker who gave me the lowdown on the operation. They haul pipe and fittings out of Fulton Ms. Lots of road time and little home time . He said normally 2 weeks out with 36 hours at home, unless you live close to a shipping route. Around 2500 miles a week.

I think they also call the flatbed fleet "special service",.....

It is non-union,......I have meet a couple of the flatbed drivers and they seemed happy enough,....

Well as happy as any non-union otr driver I have ever meet anyway,...

I just filled out an app for this division that runs out of Front Royal, VA. Home on weekends, delivering to Ferguson Enterprises. Operating area is Hampton Roads to Cincinnati to Columbia SC and in between. 2500 miles a week avg, .38 cpm $40 tarp pay, $22 per stop after 1st stop avg 10 stops per week and $16.30 an hour for various down time situations. Real strict guidlines to get hired. No job hoppers, no more than 4 employers in the past 10 years, no more than 2 MINOR moving violations in the past 3 years, etc. Wish me luck!!

there is a guy that comes through HRS a few times a week for fuel hauling pipe, his trip takes him to new england . he has a newer rental truck, says he gets alot of miles so he loves it .
