According to this Journal of Commerce article USA lost 43 million in the last quarter and blames a big part of that on not having enough drivers. They also rejected a buyout from Celadon.

Sorry, USA, but it seems word of your driver mistreatment is finally coming back to bite you in the butt. You don't see karma like this in the trucking industry very often.

Funny....I just got an offer for a job from USA truck.

It would take me about two months to solve the problems that most companies have. First, if you have over %10 of your fleet driverless, you are losing money. To solve this you have to do one of two things: Invent a lease program that allows your company to profit from its own employees or MOVE MORE FREIGHT!

If you opt for the lease program, then you can expect your empty truck problem to become %25! And once you start with playing the DAC "tag, your it" game (or what ever they call DAC today) you will begin to contribute to the driver shortage problem because your company will be contributing to the problem of ending a trucking career prematurely thus increasing the problem of not enough truckers to fill your seats.

If you opt for the second solution you may have to take a fork in your right hand and thus jab it into the posterior of your freight brokers causing them to SELL MORE FREIGHT.

Or you can begin to work on the driver supply problem by opening a truck driving school. Run an add in your local paper along with the other two-hundred and fifty thousand, five hundred and sixty-five truck driving schools that claim "We are different here at (insert cleverly invented name here) and we will (place clever slogan that was invented by someone who wouldn't know a Jake Brake from a Lunch Break) and get you on the road soon". This might enlarge your pool of recently trained steering wheel holders, but that training will be done by the underpaid instructor that has themselves been out of a truck driving school for three short years. For most driving instructor, the most important part of the day is coffee break and that lasts all day long because instructors are not paid much and they usually have the communication skills of a 1969 International Transtar I that has been sitting in a field with the rear ends robbed out from under it, looking up at the sky 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...365 days a year for the last 15 years.

Or you might choose to take a fork in your right hand and thus jab it into the posterior of your freight brokers causing them to SELL MORE FREIGHT. Or you can just continue the way you are going, blaming the trucker for all the problems in the trucking industry.....You know, the trucking industry that was built by truckers?

Just keep handing your loads to outlaw drivers like me and one day those outlaws will find a way to build a company that actually honors and rewards truckers. Then everyone out there will want to go to work for "Outlaw Trucking" and everyone else will be trying to emulate them. Because here at "Outlaw Trucking" we found out the problem with the trucking industry isn't always the trucker. Most of the time, the problems are caused by those who run the trucking companies.

Or, just keep running things the way they are. Get comfortable in your mediocrity and make sure you have plenty of extra time so you can play golf, and go drinking with your buddies from college who's ass never graced the fine leather of an item named "Bostrom".

This is who we allow to run companies? No wonder trucking is in such shambles today! We are allowing the failures of industry to run trucking companies.

Isn't usa truck akin to covenant transport?
The 2 obviously hire complete IDIOTS as well those that no speak ENGLISH and then pair up these nitwits with little to no comprehension of DRIVING and send 'em rolling.
Anyone can drive forward...well...almost anyone.
Backing though they're pretty well completely LOST.

Uninformed People wonder why we have so many Trucking ACCIDENTS.

Yes....they work cheap! And it is easy when it comes to selling them on leasing a truck and becoming an "Owner Operator" so they too can put an OOIDA sticker in the window of a truck that is actually owned by a leasing company. So how really interested are these companies in safety? Not at all. If they were we wouldn't have fleets of old Wally World trucks criss-crossing the country with parts flying off of them as quickly as tread does off a cheap recap.
