New video released by the New Jersey State Police captures the moment that a tow truck struck multiple police vehicles as troopers responded to a previous crash.

The incident occurred in Allamuchy Township on February 23, 2023.

Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash on eastbound I-80 at mile marker 17.6. Troopers closed the left and center lanes and had emergency lights activated and road flares placed to warn drivers of the closure.

From to the Allamuchy Fire Dept.:

While operating on the scene, at approximately 23:10, a large Heavy Duty “rotator” tow truck towing a refrigerated box truck came crashing into the active scene. Multiple New Jersey State Police vehicles received significant damage, as well as some minor damage to a BLS unit and one firetruck. By a miracle, every member from Fire, EMS, and police walked away last night and returned home to their families safely.

In the video, you can see New Jersey State Trooper Stephen Lentini waving a flash light in an attempt to get the attention of the tow truck driver. The tow truck does not stop and hits three police vehicles.
