Okay folks, let's get real here. What was the real result of the Viking Freight Outbound Set Check Lane?

Because what it really accomplished:

1) in the age before automatic slack adjusters, it caught brakes that were out of adjustment, thus preventing a minor number of repair tags at scales.

2) It allowed the drivers to do no pre trip whatsoever, because the mechanics caught all the problems the drivers should have found, if they actually did the pre-trip they were paid to do.

3) It allowed the drivers to feel a measure of safety going down the road that they should have ensured by doing their job.

So now that we have automatic slack adjusters, and drivers allegedly doing their job, why do we need outbound set check lanes? Are our drivers still lazy and unprofessional?

Oops, evidently so, or they wouldn't be calling for set check lanes to do the job they're paid to do.

My two cents,

ST
