ASYLUM TOWNSHIP - A Towanda man said it was the scariest situation in his life when the minivan he was driving was almost struck by a water tanker truck that rolled over Thursday evening in Asylum Township.

The combination tractor trailer/water tanker truck spilled most of its load of brine water during the accident, which occurred on U.S. Route 187, just north of the Terry Township line, said Brett Keeney, first assistant chief of the Wysox Volunteer Fire Company.

The water tanker truck was traveling north on Route 187 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday when it rolled over as it came out of a sharp right-hand curve in the roadway, Keeney said.

The truck "rolled off the left side of the roadway," Keeney said.

The driver of the truck, Joel Palmer, 25, had minor injuries, said state Trooper Scott Renfer. Palmer said he was from Tioga Center, N.Y., according to Renfer.

The truck has a capacity to carry approximately 5,500 gallons, Keeney said, adding that he did not know if the truck was carrying a full load at the time of the accident.............
