Citing unforeseen demand and difficulty finding enough qualified drivers to meet that demand, linehaul, p&d, and I assume dockworkers (I didn’t hear them mentioned but it was a driver’s meeting) received a 5% pay increase at all levels. In Zone 2, this brings the top city rate to $29.01, (up from $27.63) and top linehaul rate to 66.4 cpm (up from 63.24 cpm). Zone 1 has a bit higher rate and Zone 3 a bit lower rate. Drop/Hook pay remains the same at $9.50 each and health insurance continues to be premium and deductible free for employees and eligible dependents. I’m pleased.

Yes, it’s 5% across the board. I don’t know what the starting rate was prior to the increase but in Zone 2 it is now $26.02 with time and a half after 40 hours as mentioned earlier. As has always been the case, new employees will receive an increase on their hire anniversary date for the first 3 years until reaching top rate as well as the annual increases in May.

Just asking you guys, but how is the coverage on your. Healthcare? Premium and deductible free? What is the out of pocket costs? Co pay? Who is the insurance company? Thanks

Coverage is 80/20 with $25 copay for doctors/specialists and free annual physicals and a few other preventive type visits. Employees pay no premiums and there are no deductibles to be met before the 80% coverage takes effect. Maximum out of pocket is $1000 individual/ $2000 family. Pitt Ohio’s health plan is fully funded by the company (i.e. self insured) but from the employee standpoint it is the same as having coverage with Highmark or Aetna depending on where you live. Tbe way that works is that the insurance company processes the claim as they normally would, then charges the full amount back to Pitt Ohio. Dependent coverage is also free with spouses having to meet certain requirements. They can only be covered if 1. They are not employed 2. They are self-employed , or 3. Their employer provides health insurance but does not contribute towards the premium as most employers do.

Thank you for this information. I'm considering applying. In the research phase right now but Pitt Ohio is sounding pretty good so far.

The Aetna insurance is amazing, I've used it all over the country.
I think 4 terminals-Pittsburgh, Washington, Cumberland, and West Middlesex offer both Aetna and Highmark. Pitt Ohio is self insured and the coverage is identical regardless of the insurance company, they process the claims and charge the full amount back to Pitt Ohio. The reason for the two options at those 4 terminals is because of the legal spat between Highmark and UPMC which resulted in UPMC not accepting Highmark insurance. It’s almost imperative that employees who reside in the greater Pittsburgh area have access to UPMC facilities so Aetna was brought in the give those of us affected a “neutral” option. I was pleased when this was offered as a solution for us as I was concerned at the time that either the number of providers available to us would be limited or we would have to switch to UPMC insurance which, based on the opinions of several people I know who either have or have had it, is something I’d rather not have to do. Even with Pitt Ohio being self insured, your health care provider still has to accept the insurance provider that you are covered by.

I see they posted new start rates for some virtual event for hiring -$27.06 for PD, 24.16 for CDL b on the east side. Did they give you another raise ??
