if you get off the call board, you get night shift, but only as your more seasoned dockmen leave due to no retirement. upper management cannot conceal their hatred for the workforce, they expect loyalty, but show none. bidding is punitive and without regard to freight flow

Top pay right now is just over 60 cents/mile , you’ll either get the same as we make (depending on the area) or 90% of that & increases beyond until your paid the same

One of the perks is unemployment most of the year. When you apply for jobs, just keep calling the local LTL companies. They will tell you to apply/check online, but get an answer as to whether they are hiring. That counts as your contact. You know they won't be. Only calling LTL terminals allows you a nice winter off on UI.

WAS is the important word in that comment. I believe back in the day it was very good, right now I think UPS has the best pension. I am not going to try and post the exact numbers because when my brother in law was telling me about when and how much he is getting we were sitting around the campfire with a cold beverage, but I can tell you it sounded much better than ours even funded at 100 percent, MUCH BETTER!
