Tell the world exactly, What's your Problem, worry or nightmare with con-way freight. I'll start it off.

Mine is solely management nagging all the time about something. It doesn't even have to be at me.. It's just how much they write Class A drivers up over childish crap is gut wrenching to me. I just can't get over another man /person telling an adult class A driver what they did wrong on the dock or on camera followed by writing a full grown man a letter and a point towards termination over crap that really shouldn't be known by anyone but the driver anyway. ****Driver loads trailer safely without damage......Driver delivers and Picks Up freight safely.. Leave driver alone and get a life.

Wow ... You hit it right on the head with this post , nothing more to say except good job !

One of mine to go along with all of the above is that no matter how well we work, how hard we work......it never seems to be good enough.

Oh boy, this should be fun.

My problem is fixing other people's "f" ups. I'm still looking for the management I hear about on this board.

I have never heard of anyone being written up or even talked to after I fix an over-loaded trailer, or swing a load because the previous guy didn't walk around his set to notice the box was resting on the tire, or move freight around because the trailer is loaded poorly and it's leaning hard to the right, or have to switch tractors because the CEL's are on and the previous driver didn't think it was important to let anyone know, or I have to disinfect a tractor because this scary, oppressive management we have is too scared to enforce the no-smoking in trucks policy (law).

I'm done.

Absolutely. No one is held responsible for their actions. The things that actually matter are never followed up on or even investigated. But let someone get caught doing something petty and Katie bar the door......

You are doing all the correct things. But NEVER overestimate your value. You will not be recognized for your hard work - recognition comes only if you fail or make a mistake. Positive reinforcement is not happening.

I like all of these. Very good gripes indeed.

May I add that I don't particularly like dealing with a stratified compensation ? It creates a great deal of resentment amongst us all. The different wages per terminal as well as the different top outs in each terminal. And the different levels of retirement participation. And the distribution of OT. Not only regionally but also road and city.

And a safety always company that refuses to pay a driver to do a pre-trip. But pays him for breakdown. Well that is just stupid. Drive that thing until the wheels fall off. At least your getting paid for it.

I think for along time the palace believed that these issues would divide the drivers. Isn't it amazing that these things are now being used to unite the drivers ? All that resentment is now aimed at the palace.

I don't know who is bluffing. But some of the cards are dealt. 9-12-14 we will see what happens next. Kinda interesting we haven't heard of even one more terminal petitioning a vote.

At least I am still entertained.

Soon! Good campaigns take time to work, we're not in a hurry to do anything, rushing will result in failures. We wouldn't want that, now would we ???

Spot on observation and I'm Sure glad someone finally brought this point up about safety and pre-trips, I see most of these guys just drive off with a quick walk around without giving it as much As a second glance over , they say why waste there time on it if were not getting paid for our service. Conway's safety policy is a farce when it becomes and interference or obstruction to production so I guess that little extra time it would cost for us to do a proper pre-trip is not warranted . So maybe safety and pre-trip shouldn't be used in the same sentence because it don't pay very well according to some ! Idk

I agree with most of the gripes previously listed and would add the following. I think the discipline needs to be focused on what is costing the company money a good example of this is claims. The part timers are damaging freight, despite the so called "training" the receive and are receiving little or no instruction to solve the problem. Recently, the company has made quantum leaps in it's ability to gather information about drivers using handhelds and cameras. I understand the desire on the part of the company to gather as much information about us as possible, but I have a problem with the way they use it against us, especially the information gathered with the in-cab cameras.

I've been here nearly 20 years and have never heard of this letter and "points" toward termination. Please explain that part..but the petty stuff , I agree with you on.. like somebody else said, tear up freight no prob. , but don't hang straps..Katie bar the door ..(that was good)

Perhaps you heard of LOIs [ LETTER of instruction], or Safety Points depending on the event ie.[ 2pts for a dropped trlr etc.]

That post I was refering to didn't say anything about accidents..he said the camera and other non accident related stuff. Lots of mis information here on the internet.

I agree 100% about the misinformation. Yesterday I read about a 20yr employee at Con-Way that claimed to not know what letters or points leading to termination were, completely unbelievable.

I've got to hand it to you...that was pretty good..

I was trying to figure out what kind of smart azz response you were going to give..but didn't see that one..

You get LOI's for a lot of stuff other than accidents. I got one for forgetting to chock a trailer once. That's half a point on your scorecard. I dropped a trailer with a faulty dolly leg and when it rolled up and the trailer hit the ground I got an LOI and one point on my scorecard. I can see writing someone up for dropping a trailer, but how is an internal mechanical failure on their junk equipment MY fault?? I fully INTENDED to drop that trailer on the ground. Now apparently we're supposed to know whether or not the landing gear on their junk trailers is actually going to hold the trailer up? Call in sick with the flu and don't bring a doctors note? That's a point on your absence score card. Get 6 in a year and you're fired. Sorry, I'm not going to the doctor for the flu... what's he going to do for me, charge me money to tell me to go home and sleep?

The best one was when my old TM told me that technically he could give me an LOI for letting my dolly bump another one when dropping it in the dolly parking area. REALLY?? It's stupid crap like this that have everyone disengaged and has quite a few of us looking for other jobs. Now soon you will be getting safety points for whatever they see you doing on the camera.

Yeah, the money you make here is pretty darn good if you can stand to work third shift, but there comes a time when it's not worth it to deal with the asinine BS that this company throws at you left and right...

If you call off sick even if you give 3hr notice and they have to many drivers off 1point. Go home sick too many drivers off 1point

ok, but it doesn't have anything to do with the camera. You have to hold people accountable. have we gotten that lazy. I don't have any points , btw. it's easy to accomplish.

The only problem is they nitpick about stupid stuff and let certain people get away with murder...
