I was just wandering if Rob really knows what is going on with HIS company. It seems as if there are many not so smart managment moves being made:nutkick:. I work out of 172 and seem to notice that above the tm, nobody has a way of fixing the problems!:butt kiss: They want to make the numbers look so good, they sacrafice service and the sanity of our drivers. They talk about dead time and bills per hour, but this is the real life. They need to learn that there is much more than numbers to make a company efficient. I think(are p&d drivers allowed to do that?) they need to look at the terminal as a whole. They want the drivers to "lie" and fix the exception problem, they want the dock guys to have no dead time...Anyone with a reasonable solution!!!!

Glad to see some other's aren't brainwashed around here. The talk about efficiency... It's my understanding that our p&d guys roll into a customer before a competitor, and end up leaving after the competitor is long gone. Whats the point of the electronic gizmo, if you have to do the paperwork like you did before? Not efficient. Swinging freight time and time again, because we're a "pup" operation. If people would get their $hit straight, we'd already know what we have and what we need to match. Instead of finding out at the cut time that we need to backstrip a van to match a pup. Not Efficient. I'm not against efficiency, I dont think any of us are. Speed does not pay the bills. Customers are more concered with their freight arriving damage free, then they are with it arriving on time and half of it being garbage. They push bills per hour on us dockmen all the time, just as they push not damaging the freight. Well, if they'd actually tour facilities and see what we're given to work with, and what we're asked to do. They'd understand a little more. The bill pumpers at my terminal get all the gravy strips. They only have to get off their lifts to change a propane bottle. While the rest of us that take our time and do the job right, get stuck moving siding, hand trucking drums 70 doors, or palletizing water heaters for HD. If they want to improve efficiency, give us drum picker attachments for forklifts. Quit making us rehandle freight time and time again. I keep hearing from the jockeymen, we could use a few more Ottawa trucks. So instead of spending $$ claims, and making drivers sit around ( for free) give us all what we need to do our jobs, and get off our backs.
