What trucking entity would you suggest the IBT approach? After years at Overnite and in independent contract with UPS Freight, what is the next plausible strategy?
Not to mention the ConWay and FedEx attempt at organization. Both used the
IBT as a threat. When they got close to what they wanted without having to organize it was........Teamsters Who????

On the other hand just the threat of Teamster representation keeps some companies with a large bankroll in line. It is what it is.

Conway Eastern Express (CEX) was Teamster since it actually was the re-branded Penn Yan Express which ConWay purchased. If I remember correctly, Teamsters there didn't go along with some concessions and they were shut down. Eventually Conway Central Express (CCX) moved into that area and later on all those "regionals" merged to become ConWay, all non-union. Who knows how things would have turned out if CEX stayed Teamster. But the "pay the rate or lock the gate" crowd ended any chance of finding out.
