Copy that! I am 15 minutes from Estes and 30 minutes from yellow. It's just me and my girlfriend. Both centers are in the PA region.
Well I'm 46 with no major health issues, but I'm not getting any younger lol. I know some people say money isn't everything, but it sure is nice to have. I'm not sure what pension yellow has left or if it would do me any good at all.
Not picking sides, A, but at least read the fine print on deductible, out of pocket, and co pays to see how much you could have to pay yourself before the insurance pays. $80 a month, even for single, sounds like awful cheap insurance that may have you paying a ton out of your wallet if something bad happens, or existing conditions. Do you have any self discipline? Not being nasty, just a question, some do, most don't. Go with Estes, a prosperous company in no eminent danger of shutting down. There are two options for the extra money you will earn. If the out of pocket amount of the Estes provided insurance qualifies, max out a Health savings Account. 2021 the max is $4600 or about $380 a month. It's better than an IRA or 401K because the money goes in tax free and also comes out tax free when you use it to pay medical expenses like copays for prescriptions. Most banks offer HSA accounts. Option two is simply set up a monthly transfer from checking to savings and build up a cushion to cover those expenses.
