Early Sunday morning, around daybreak till mid morning is the quietest time of the week. I finished my work week at 7 Sunday morning for many years. The drive home was quiet & as the song suggests, if seems lonely. There is less traffic on the highway as well.

Yes, I always changed clothes & took a shower before I left the shop. I had a plastic bag for my work clothes because #2 fuel oil, dirty engine oil & gear oil leaves an odor on anything it touches. The clothes washer is in the basement. That kept the odor out of the rest of the house. It took a while to get the grease from under my fingernails after retirement. I admit that washing dishes helps keep hands & fingernails clean.
A man after my heart, I'm also the dishwasher in our house.
Mama does most of the cooking so I take care of the dishes.
I am often reminded if we eat out there will be no dishes to wash. I will admit she has me trained after 47 years together.
