OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Trucking and logistics company YRC Worldwide Inc. said first quarter profits slipped 16 percent as operating expenses grew faster than sales.
But the company still beat Wall Street expectations and the company's stock was up almost 8 percent in after-hours trading.
The Overland Park-based company, formerly known as Yellow Roadway Corp., reported earnings of $42.1 million, or 71 cents per share, compared to $49.9 million, or 96 cents per share, during the same period a year ago.
Not including a one-time loss on property sales, the company earned 72 cents per share.
