Utah is considering lowering their state speed limit for trucks to reduce crashes.

In my opinion if any speed limit should be lower it should be for 4 wheelers.
After all who are the professional drivers,4 wheelers or truckers.
I really think the Utah state law makers have it backwards.

All vehicles should be reduced, IMO. Trucks 60-65, cars 65-70, and zero tolerance on speed limit.Been driving trucks 40 years now, and it is getting real scary out on the big road, especially when in my car.

It's easier to pick on truck drivers than the motoring public. It makes them feel safer although over 90% of accidents are caused by the 4 wheelers. We just bend over and take it.

A local TV station ran a story about the proposal to reduce truck speed. Then they gave figures about the increase in vehicle accidents & fatalities. They gave the increased numbers for accidents involving impaired driving (alcohol & drugs) & distracted driving (cell phones, texting etc.) but never gave one bit of proof that trucks were responsible for the increase in accidents & fatalities. The news person must have been inspired by watching the ambulance chasing attorney advertisements.
