I am hearing alot about all the terminals that have sighned cards and have the majority. But I don't see any under teamster representation. Are the teamsters holding these cards and not going public with the results until the contract has been agreed to?
The way I understand it, the card check agreement was only for one terminal...and that terminal is Indy.
The rest of the terminals will have to go through the normal process of signing enough cards to have a secret ballot vote.

So until there is a vote, the only terminal that currently has representation is Indy.

I could be wrong, but that is the way I understood it to be.

How about the Reno terminal with their old paper contract?

This new Indy contract would make this old paper contract will be nul,and void?

Or would there be Renos, paper, and the new Indy contract?

Making it two contracts, and sometime in the future when the whole company decides if they want to be unionized everything will all come together.

Other than this I for one am very corn-fused.

But no big deal, I'm happy just the way our company is now.(NON-UNION) works for me.

We all can think, or believe anything we want, But lets take all the guess work out of it and lets read the contract. I don't believe UPS is concerned with all the other freight company's that are waiting and watching for this great contract. After all its UPS that has to agree to the terms of this contract.

Yes UPS will be concearned , they have every rite to be, but on the same note other companies are looking at all of this very closely, after all they should be, if upsf slides into a contract and the co. goes union then that paves the way for other non union people earning less in bennies and monies to think twice about why they are wasting time at abc co. and how easy the alternative mite be!!!

On the other hand this will also give leverage to other union companies to negotiate a good contract. ultimatlely this effects us all.:showoff: :showoff:

This is incorrect. The card check is into effect.

And not reading a contract and just sighning because they can: this is what got NEMF such a great contract!!!!

Well I agree with that statement, but again, people are easily swayed when they are'nt to secure in thier decision making.

And you are rite when you say UPS is the entity responsible for the agreeing to the contract, I was simply explaining what the teamster's are up against.:Bazzoka-Cow:

Card check was for INdy and Indy only. Apo is right, all the other terminals are subject to the petition and a secret ballot vote. hoffa only told you guys part of his dream.

Sorry to bust your bubble Skeeter. Terminals are falling like dominos. The funny thing is that the south are starting to organize. It comes down to bear facts and brass tacks. When you get hit in the wallet, you might think differently. Let a gypsy take out your bid run and see how you feel.

Well, I don't ever see that happening but if it ever did then you are right I'd probably sign the card. But as of now I don't see the need to.:whistling:

You can call your local union hall and find out how many cards have been turned in. Its very possable that many cards have been mailed or turned in with out you ever knowing about it.

I do know that the last informational meeting a couple weeks ago was attended by mostly dock workers,a couple city guys, and around 5 road drivers....but there wasn't a big turnout, concidering how many people work at my terminal.

Of coarse not,, they are all afraid they are going to loose thier job's, they may not tell you this but it is in the back of thier mind's I am sure of it.

i dont have nothing against the guys in the teamsters, they are people like we are people, have families to take care of and everything, but from what i have heard their pension plan is about 14 billion dollars underfunded. i dont know if that is accurate or not, and no i do not have this info in black and white, dont know if anyone actually would, but that would make sense for them to try and get upsf and fedex to join, that would inch it back towards the black in a hurry.

All pention plans are in a tradgic state not only the teamster's, and it is not as bad off as you are being led to believe, as a matter of fact all companies are trying to eliviate them because it takes too much of a chunk out of profit's and scince 2003 they cannot be touched by the managing entity anymore, union or non union. Do some investigative work and you will see...

grapeape, there seems to be a misconception on the part of non Teamster drivers that there is such a thing as a "Teamsters Pension Fund". There isin't.

There are many different funds covering different geographic regions. Each fund is administered by it's own board of directors and is operated seperatly from the other funds.

I think whoever you are getting your information from needs to do a little more homework before making claims like that.

I hope this helps.
