FedEx Freight | Washing trucks

I heard that Larry was inundated with emails and phone calls about the new policy that was made without his knowledge, then he reversed it. This is from my contact in HRO.

I notice the company cars still seem to get washed. Figure that must cost between say $10-15.
Anyone ever actually come up with a number on what it costs for one driver to manually wash his truck?

Has anyone's trucks been washed by vendors? If so how often? I cant remember the last time mine has been washed at last service it was to cold. I have always taken pretty good care of the tractors that I have been assigned. But this is starting to make me loose interest. What ever happened to image? Well I guess its supposed to rain up here on Monday maybe it will clean itself off. Oh never mind my city guy runs down dirt roads.:chairshot:

Also has anyone else noticed an increase in electrical components going bad? The salt corrosion seems to be eating away at all electrical connections. I have wheel sensors going bad due to bad grounds, starter solenoid is all corroded up lighting problems I could probably go on. Is this really saving money in the long run? I wonder who ever looks at this sees an increase in shop cost due to this. Just wondering.:chairshot:

One of our mechanics washed mine last week and he did a great job. :1036316054:

I've not had any electrical issues mentioned earlier, but I did have an EGR valve replaced.

I pass yellow freight and Roadway trucks that are cleaner than the truck I drive. If Ga is supposed to be in a severe drought why do all of the UPS trucks that pass me are very clean??

fedupdal must be a driver domiciled in dallas. i had heard several years ago that the guys that run out of there arent supposed to wash their trucks because that service is provided by a contractor, like it is supposed to be at other centers without wash bays. but as far as i know, dudes that run into dallas can and have been washing trucks, at least up through last week. but i do agree with yall, we tend to concern ourselves with image (uniform), what about the equipment.?

uniforms were ordered after 9/11 security issue...as far as equipment, I still wash my truck when it needs it..thats if the wash bay isn't closed due to it being too cold

you never see a dirty UPS truck, fedex wants to take care of there customers, but when the customers see how dirty our trucks are they might think twice.how are suppose to take care of are customers when we can't even take care of our equipment.

Fleetwash comes to our hub every other Saturday and washes every tractor in the yard, even if its raining. One Saturday morning I saw them washing tractors in a heavy rain.

Sacramento has a vendor in every 2 weeks. They wash everything in the yard except con-gears on both Saturday and Sunday. We can do a touch up on our own time just about any time we want to.

I just washed mine today, it was 71 degrees in KC today. Wash bay was open, soap was turned on and everything worked fine.

She looks really good now!

Look a little closer.. the brown and grey just does not show the dirt as bad.. I drove for 5.5 hours today and paid attention just because I had read this post this past weekend.. UPS trucks are just as nasty.. Plus, brown always looks dirty.. hard to mess that up!

We can no longer was our trucks in Dallas. We were told that we have a service that washes them once a month and that it was costing to much for us to wash them ourselfs any longer. Boy aren't the white trucks going to look good now.:Rulz:

Well folks the real deal is that a driver was washing his truck and got injured and filed a lawsuit and stated he was not on the clock while washing his truck, Sort of like that Wal-Mart thing working their people while not on the clock, I know it sounds crazy, But it's true.
