first off our great company is killing off our brothers at usf by taking half their dock space, loading their freight on yellow trailers, and cutting out there jobs and heavy layoffs.

just 2 days ago their was a survey crew surveying our terminal. the following day the drivers were called to a meeting that all cdl qualified person will have to drive in the city in order to meet the new demands of the company. if our terminal does not perform within the next 6 months. kansas city will close the atlanta terminal.

i see the death of our terminal just down the road. we are not receiving new equipment; they are cutting 23 jobs from the city and dock. these people will be offered jobs at another yellow terminal, in another state. not at roadway or usf. and also they just bought a new warehouse for roadway in the camp creek area bringing their terminals up to 4 inside the city.

so far there are only 80+ drivers at the atl terminal. we were told they will have 150 on the streets next week. to move the next day freight. after that who knows what will happen. looks like they are planning to run all the freight out of roadway and kill yrc in atlanta .

Long Ago............

A long time ago there was a business writer for the Akron Beacon Journal in Ohio who made an astute observation about Yellow. I believe he was referring to the situation when Yellow aquired Preston. He said Yellow does not like to compete. They would much rather gobble up their competition and then cut them loose to flounder. They take the best of everything the other company has and then gets their employess for a fraction of their worth!:chairshot:

I hate to tell you brothers and sisters at Holland but if Yellow and Roadway get the changes of operations they are going to hear next week They will no longer need Holland. I hope I'm wrong and I also hope they don't get the Changes as proposed but time will tell.

Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Dec. 1 -- RICHFIELD, Ohio -- Yellow Freight System, the village's largest employer, wants to boost its local ranks by 200 employees by opening a second freight terminal here.

The company confirmed yesterday it is trying to set up an operation in a terminal formerly operated by Preston Trucking Co., which closed its doors in July and declared bankruptcy, throwing 600 employees here out of work. Nationally, about 5,000 Preston workers lost their jobs.

The two terminals are located about four miles apart on Brecksville Road, along Richfield's busy truck strip.

Yellow Freight spokesman Roger Dick...

Hey Atltopdog, Roadway is building a new terminal? I don't see how Yellow can shut down Atlanta...I pass by there all the time...I have noticed that Roadway is hiring casuals both in Marietta and Atlanta...are they trying to shift the freight to Roadway?

There not buying up the competition. They have been buying up the union companies to Bust Them. :chairshot:

The reason there are surveyor's at various terminals, (including Roadway Kansas City) has to do with the restructured loans YRC has taken out. Terminals that are owned, were surveyed to verify collateral.

Glad someone else keeps up with the financial news! That's all this is about.

i dont know exactly how they are shifting it, but roadway has gotten new trucks, a new terminal ( the old averet express warehouse off of fulton indust.) bringing them up to 4 in the atlanta area to yellows 1 terminal.

the guys at holland are being worked out of a job by roadway and yellow. we at yellow will be handling next day service freight only if they approve the change of opperations.

the break bulk freight will go elswhere. we have been told that we will lose over 900 bills a day with the new set up.
