With the recent demise of Jevic and now Alvan Motor Freight has anybody noticed if Holland has picked up some of their accounts?

Was told that central transport was helping Allvan clear out remaining frt and at Indy we have picked up a half dozen loads of frt that was swung off of their already loaded trailers from various customers.

Wow, I wish I could be happier about gaining freight. It sucks to see jobs lost in the process.:chairshot:

Didn't see too much extra freight with Jevic closing. One acct. where we got 1 trailer a day, we get 2 or 3 now, but thats about it as far as I can see. Also interesting is that apparently New Penn was using Alvan to deliver some of thier freight and vise-versa. Interesting that, being owned by YRC, that New Penn wouldnt use Holland. From the Alvan website "To and from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, the Alvan/New Penn Alliance provides a second day delivery service for thousands of points. This Alliance also features seamless tracking and tracing, providing you with the information you need with just a couple of mouse clicks. "

Ive seen Wilson freight delivering New Penns freight in Bristol Tn and the tri citys area. Thats funny we only send about 15 trucks a day to that area.:chairshot:

Alvan stated on their website freight was being given to Central transport
Central Transport here in the Northeast does not have a good reputation.I doubt they will pick up much of the freight going up here. Most customers want there freight on time and that is not something C.T.does very well...I have seen freight sit on customer docks for days that is routed at the 'other' end not time sensitive...My wife got a shipment of packing supplies, four pallets freight collect shipped from Chicago to NE pa It took eight days and the charges were $75.How they even stay in business is a wonder by itself...

The guy that owns them also owns the Ambassador Bridge. Deep pockets

Didn't we close some terminals out East? We were told that New Penn would deliver that area. I know we are giving them our freight going to those areas, but I don't see much reciprocation.

No we did not close any terminals in the East. And we have been giving NPME freight going to areas we do not deliver. Also NPME has been giving us freight that Alvan did not cover. We picked it up in Buffalo terminal next door. Now we will get what ever Alvan was getting into the midwest.

My thought was that we should have been getting this freight all along. Arent we part of the same company? Also Michigan was Alvans stronghold, but isn't it ours as well? (even the mid-west in general). I'm just trying to figure out why we give them our freight, but we only got what Alvan did not cover? That doesn't seem right to me.

We were told here at Newpenn everything that went to Alvan is now going to Holland:funky:

freight interline

when i worked for red star --- holland gave their freight to st johnsbury and would not honor the red star discounts in the northeast--- could never figure that out when usf owned both companies

They had a partnership with Alvan prior to Yellow buying Holland. They do the same with Wilson in the South. The partnerships were formed before we were part of the big picture (YRCW).

hmm

That's interesting. Nashville driver told me he talked to sales rep from Alvan who (oh that's right) knew Alvan was closing and took his auto parts customers to Yellow. No kidding guys. Yesterday as a matter of fact. So he could work for Yellow and have a job of course.

I believe it :toxic:, it's got to be true, if a driver told another driver that his cousin's neighbor's friend knows a guy that used to own a pick-up truck just like the one he saw parked in the Wendy's close to an Alvan terminal, what's not to believe. It's true fact, it has to be.

did that pick-up have tinted windows?

did that pick-up have tinted windows?
Yes but!
That pickup clearly had a 2 gun, gunrack and the pickup in question definitely had a 3 gun, gunrack. Plus there was no dent in the hood where Bettylou got drunk and climbed up and danced on it.

:biglaugh:
