Yellow | A sad story about the time we live in and our Vets !!

Did you hear about the service member that had to pay for the shipping cost for his Purple Heart? I saw it today,on the AOL News

It is what is happening in multiple families for many reasons. I have a neice who her and her husband spent a million years in school, found jobs that paid very well. Saved up and put over $100,000 down payment. He lost his job, she lost hers 2 weeks later. They were promised loan restructering but after a year it never happened. They finally had to send the jingle letter with the keys to the house telling the bank to come and get it.

I'm still fighting like hell to keep mine. bought a house and closed on it right after I started on the road at Yellow back in 2001, closed on it one month to the day before Sept. 11 took place. I ran about two months after that and got laidmoff for 9 mos. then came back but the damage was done. I worked every shift i could when i came back and was starting to get back on my feet and then the Yellow Meltdown happened and I was laid off yet again. for the third time in about two years. This time was for almost two years. I worked for several fly by night two bit trucking outfits but you know the story long hours no pay and they begrudge you what they actually owe you. Finally got hired back as a Teamster in Heavy construction. some I'm starting to rebuild again. But I will never go back to YRC. Not after what they did to me and others like me. My pint is is that many of the people that in the same boat that this Chi-town driver and myself are in did nothing wrong. But we are the ones left holding the bag. Not fair but I guess that's life. But we keep going and continue to have faith because at this point thats about all we have left.

i dont think our Vets have ever been treated fairly for their sacrafice.i heard a service member say.i dont think our Government even want our soldiers to come back...i guess its cheaper to die on the battlefield...sad but maybe true

To ALL the Vets on here, you have certian rights that are yours. Go to your nearest American Legion Hall and If you don't want to join ask to talk to their service officer. He can give you information or hook you up with the appropiate agency that can help you. I see so many Vets that don't have a clue what their entitled to it's scarrey. The VFW is another great place to ask questions. Both places are looking to HELP us, they just need to be asked. :Poke:

I’m a vet of both Gulf war and I’m stilling serving today in the USAR Reserves. I’m not trying to sound unsympathetic but being a vet doesn’t exclude you from understanding mortgage financing. Their bank had given them an adjustable-rate mortgage. He should have checked into what that entailed. Plus why didn’t he take out a VA loan?

The biggest problem triumph is most guys don't know what they are entitled to. I have shown guys the medical they are entitled to through the v a and one guy was even o k to retire when he found out about his benefits. To all our veteran brothers, please check out your benefits from the v.a. You served and in doing so you accrued certian benefits that non vets can only wish for.

My kid is USAF Reserves as well (Staff Sargent). Comes back to Grissom from Tinker, leaves the next day for Spain for 3 months, comes back for a week, then on to Qatar for Christmas! They definitely keep him busy. This summer alone, he's been to Edwards in Calf, Davis-Motten in Tuscon, Stewart in Montgomery, Ny (met Paul Tuttle , Sr of Orange Co Choppers)- now Tinker in Okla. Last year he was in Turkey and Northern Iraq. He's never bored....

He's still renting his apartment. Knows that they HAVE to let him out of his lease if he wants to (Military/ Government laws). But he Likes his apartment, and they might not lease to him again if he's always on the go....
