UPDATE: Motorcyclist Killed at I-85/I-985 Identified - Suwanee, GA Patch

Gwinnett Police said Thursday morning that the man killed in an accident on I-85 near the I-985 split in Buford on Wednesday evening was Leon Cross.

Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a news release that Cross, 35, lost control of his motorcycle after hitting a tire tread that had become airborne.

The tractor-trailer's driver was unable to avoid Cross and ran over him, the police statement said.

How does a guy blow a tire...it hits the guy on the bike..and the truck runs him over?? That doesn't make sence.

Anyway, there are too many bikes that ride around like they are in a car. Rule number 1 is not ride next to a truck...rule number 2 is don't tailgate..ya never know what the car/truck is gonna straddle

The reason I know about this accident is it took me 2 hours to get around to I-985. I did see the scene the truck was parked in the right lane and the motorcycle was laying on its side in the hammer lane next to the truck. It was a croch rocket. It would appear that the motorcycle rider hit the tread lost control and was thrown under the wheels of the truck...

So...was the bike following the truck, hit a tread from said truck, and then went under the rear tire??? Or was he riding along side and still ended up under the rear tire??? I can't see him getting run over by the front of the truck and still being able to have hit tread.

It's hard to say perhaps the truck hit the tread and threw it into the motorcycle then he lost control and was hit by the trailer tires...
