BLOOMINGTON, CA-GlobeSt.com has exclusively learned that Pacific Industrial LLC has closed on the $34-million purchase of the YRC Bloomington Truck Terminal, a rare, contiguous 51.42-acre truck terminal located at 18298 Slover Ave. in Bloomington, CA. The seller, YRC Inc., was represented by CBRE.

“This represented a great opportunity for us to acquire a highly cash flowing asset with future development potential in a very tight land market,” says Dan Floriani, co-founder of Pacific Industrial, in a prepared statement. The property was purchased in an all cash manner.

Pacific Industrial plans to entitle the site for a 700,000-square-foot, class A, cross-dock facility to accommodate potential future development. Given its expansive land size, the site could accommodate a one million square foot, class-A, industrial campus in the future, says Floriani.....................

For those who had never been to Bloomington, Pacific Industrial LLC got an attractive site for much less than what YRCW had in it. But that is the reality of the current real estate market.

holy **** bloomingtons gone? thats not good. i would hope we stop selling terminals . i always thought if we could bounce back we have capacity to take on more frieght and hire more people. this is not good news cuz i heard they spent big bucks on bloomington and to build it.

Is YRCleasing back a part of the facility for use??

Reading the article it say's YRC has a lease through 2019 for part of the property BUT it also say's the could make a very very large " one million square foot, class-A, industrial campus in the future " so I guess it's all up in the air as of now .

When Bloomington opened it replaced Adelanto as the breakbulk for southern California. Beyond the money spent acquiring the property and construction, the COO and relocation of services and equipment were costly also. Bloomington was more cost effective. Hourly road drivers no longer had to drive over Cajon Pass to access the LA basin satellites.

This is the Yellow way,, lease, lease, and lease again,, but on a bright note, atleast they can say they made a profit in the 4th quarter!!! woo-hoo 2 in a row!!!! I need a new glass of kool-aid

Barstow last year had an invitation to be a standalone railhead.Barstow has been a crossroad that resembles Chicago but with very few others to service.

I was of the understanding that a new railhead was to be in the Adelanto vicinity.

The Barstow/Yellow facility is still up for sale.

Regarding the Bloomington facility, are there not nearby barns that share a single seniority list? e.g. Rialto?

Please enlighten.

The Adelanto Ca railroad is a no , The Blommington Ca yard shares a seniority list with the San Bernardino yard and also the Adelanto Ca yard ( maybe ten guy's there ) , and yes the Barstow is still for sale the last info I can find . Hope that helps .

Thanx, I thought there were additional "shared" boards.

btw, what happened to the old Roadway, San Bernardino facility?

Roadway sold that years ago when they open Bloomington . The also had a small lease yard in Fontana that they closed down when they open Bloomington .

Along with the Barstow Ca. Property.I was under the impression that Yellow Corp.had some of the property adjacent to that facility.Such as a 50year lease to McDonald's and also the motel next to that restaurant. The company probably owns all that property where the Barstow terminal is.Just an opinion

The Fontana yard north of I-10 continued to operate after Bloomington and San Bernardino (Rialto Ave.) for quite some time.

The Guasti/Ontario terminal closed when Bloomington opened.

The San Bernardino terminal that was on Allen Ave is currently for lease---not sure who owns it.

Not sure who's in the Orange (Taft) facility.

Pomona was a RETL facility last time I was in the area.

Barstow has been empty and for sale/lease for years. Likely to stay that way for a long long time. Everybody in the game already has a large facility in the SBDO/FON/ONT area.

Adelanto facility was a shell of an operation last time I saw it. I guess the bean counters think it's still cost effective to service the high desert from there...and probably is during inclement weather. Probably making more money leasing one entire dock and 90+% of the other one than it did when operating full song as an LTL hub.

I remember when Barstow was open. When the company was Yellow. That place might've stayed open.Had it not been for some of the shuttle drivers out of there milking the clock.Seems to me there was alot of labor issues associated with Barstow. As business models changed as well as the economy. The idea of building a terminal near the rail head and also being close to the major businesses.Made sense. There was an idea in the placement of the San Bernardino yard.to build some of the rail into the yard. That idea was nixed. What a shame that the Barstow yard isn't being used.I also think that the yard in Barstow was greatly used. When YFS had a major relay single man system in the west.I think the relay system works better and employs more people

Barstow was sold a few years ago. The guy bought it and put a warehouse on it .They were going to make a produce dist. hub out of it, but went bankrupt. A article in the local paper said it was bought and trying to lease it out. A far as Bloomington,if I remember right, Estes bought it and leased it back when Zollar was selling everything.
