Yellow | Tennessee Volkswagen plant votes against union in UAW defeat

It's a telling statement of unionism in America when the UAW loses while having the support of the company,

"We felt like we were already being treated very well by Volkswagen in terms of pay and benefits and bonuses," said Sean Moss, who voted against the UAW. "We also looked at the track record of the UAW. Why buy a ticket on the Titanic?" he added.

That last line will be whenever the IBT attempts to organize one of the non's.....................................

This country is so backwards sometimes when it comes to improving the middle class. The US is the only division in VW that is non union across the world. The Germans union brothers are thinking those dumb down americans---- VW supports the union and the workers vote it down cause of the politicians from Tenn said they would not allow for expansion of the plant. Really??? Really people, is this what we have come to as a nation??? We are now looked at as not a discount but as sell outs to keep the unionism out as they think RTWFL (right to work for less) is a good thing. DAMN!!!!!

That's why they put plants in Tenn.....Very nice people to be sure...but very brainwashed by their politicians. Even the Kia workers in South Korea make more than their Kia co-workers here in the U.S. That's pretty sad.....we are becoming the cheap labor country...

What gets me is 212 did not vote! Quite a blind eye of the issues on the table weather 4 or against to vote! People fought for your rite to do so at least exercise the rite!:usa: What is an eye opener here is roughly 580 million in tax incentives to work here and the such! That wanna makes me :9529:but that is the world we live in anymore to do business in the US A total kick in the nuts would be if they ship the production to MEXICO because we used up all our tax credits! Dump and run

Hey if Mexico offered the same 580 million amount they would dump and run, 5 miles across the boarder and no EPA to deal with and the wages are even lower without any benefits...................

They scare the workforce there of moving the work across the border which was their intention from the get go to get rid of the union then bring the work back across the border with a lower two tier wage plan that is lower than the unionize force. This tactic should be stopped and a higher tariff should be put on any imports brought into the states. Big business would rather waste more money moving jobs, equipment and construction across the border and then return that same work back into the states with a tax break then to just pay the workers in the first place. Much to do about nothing but to mess with the working middle class so that CEO can buy that new super yacht tied up to his house he won't hardly use.

So do most european countries, so it does beg to ask the question why people would say no? May be leadership up top of the teamsters?

Don't drink it

87 people kept that vote from going thru to unionize the 1st plant in the south, talk about drinking the kool aid, must be something in the water down there.

Why all the screaming and raising hell? That's a car company and this section of the board is a trucking company? What difference does it make to you what they do? In the end, don't you guys have the pension for life and the auto workers don't? Someone posted that 87 workers kept the company from being union. So the several hundred that voted no don't count. Someone please explain?

It just means there were 87 more NO than YES votes . So the majority,by 87 votes

Say "na" to the uaw, therefore, no union.

And,no. We don't have a pension for life.

Those already retired or about to , may or should get payed till dead.

But , the pension is only about half funded,
so, We current slaves will see very reduced retirement bennies, probably with strings attached.

Especially if the govt takes it over as insolvent, which it is.

The point is that the company support the union being there but the politicians didn't want it to happen. You have politicians trying to dictate the business and the standard of living for the people in Tenn. This vote wasn't about me or YRC but the simple fact that they had a chance to raise their likelihood and family to a higher level. Its about all of us sitting at the table to eat if you get what I mean.

Well the employees voted and it was their decision but I'm perplexed how the company basically was neutral and the politicians dictated what should not happen to the worker there.

Pay is not everything, maybe they like their situation and do not want hope and change. Maybe they realize if they join the union the salaries of the UAW are going to come from somewhere. Unions have cost many people their job.
