I'm sure I will catch heck for this but what the heck. UPSF is not part of the NMFA if that's not what you meant by that I apologize in advance sorry. Yes the Teamsters might push and they might not I don't know, I would bet Fedex will push but again I don't know. But comparing this organizing effort underway now is nothing like the UPSF organizing effort as I understand it. The way I understood it UPS pretty much invited the Teamsters in, or at least did not object to much. So to me its apples and oranges, this may be more like the Overnight effort which did not end well.
No sir, they are not part of the NMFA nor will any other company yet to organize.
No as far as organizing FedEx going to be worse than Overnight.
Overnight was essentially a one trick pony owned by Union Pacific.
I would go so far as to say Overnight was the tool Union Pacific used to perfect their intermodal operations.
When Overnight organized, UP blew them off as the loss of revenue from disruptions at Overnight would be inconsequential.
Now, FedEx on the other hand is quite a bit different.
If they fail to bargain in good faith, we can not strike as we would lose our jobs.
But, do you think Fred wants to explore some of the following possible consequences?
Even though we can't strike, we can put up informational pickets, a constitutionally protected form of free speech.
Does he want to find out if his pilots will cross such a line?
Does he want to find out if customers will cross a line at Express locations?
Or drop boxes with a picketer.
Might be interesting to watch this one play out.
