I thought I'd drop a line to all my fellow ex J1 employees to remind them that we got until August 29th to do something with our 401K's. If you miss that date Fidelity sends you a check (-20%) and reports it to the IRS where you'll get hit with another 10% at tax time. I had this happen to me 20 years ago and had to pay the IRS in monthly installments for the money I owed. Not fun. Anyway I rolled my 401K over last week. My agent, David, is with MetLife and I've had him taking care of my retirement for 15 years now. His office is in PA but he lives in NJ. Drop a message to him at 610-328-7900 ext. 11. Let him know you're ex Jevic. I trust him. You don't have to use him if you already got someone but I'll bet there are a bunch of agents sniffing around looking to make money off our situation so take care.
