We’ve got about 4 months to go until we vote on a contract and still nothing of any substance coming from the union or the company. It would appear that they are using the same tactic as last time and waiting until the last possible minute to release any details in order to get maximum panic and a forced yes vote.

Psychology 101, "Any action that brings the desired result will be repeated".

I would suspect that we will have a tentative agreement by the end of April.
2 things that will absolutely be changing.
1. The grievance panels, I suspect there will no longer be these regional and national panels as it was with ups.
2. Red circle will be eliminated

You know your union brothers are gonna vote yes on whatever pile of crap contract they propose because they all have boat camper and truck payments to make.
They usually do. No one had or has the guts to strike for what they want. The dock workers and jockeys will decide the contract that everyone gets in the end as they have the greatest number of employees. Road drivers are screwed as usual.

First thing ,UPS would have just closed the doors in 2018. The fire sale in 2021 proves they weren't interested in this company.
The contract will pass with a 50% plus one vote majority. Everyone votes on their own best interests. That is life. Get use to it .

Nope you are wrong...this negotiation process will be different from before...besides members from the usual negotiators the ibt has allowed a few rank and file members on the negotiation committee...I've spoke to one early today as we are both line haul drives, the teamsters and the company will be meeting face to face for the first time next Monday in Washington DC...so as of now there's nothing to report

Of course. But it still doesn’t change the fact that they will throw the biggest bones to the dock workers and jockeys to get it passed.

Well where im at, there arent that many dockworkers anymore. Laid most of them off. I think Drivers will rule this vote. Question is, Road or P&D?

Road has little voice anymore. Has to be in the 4 or 5 to 1 ratio, favoring P&D and dock....

Divide & conquer. Without solidarity, there is no union.
Solidarity based on what exactly? The contract is a 50%+1 pass model . Sometimes solidarity is just a clarion call for I didn't get what I wanted.
There are certain issues that effect all workers.
1.vacation, holidays, sick time, grievance procedures, workers comp, pension. Once you break into the specific day to day of a classification wants or requirements, you are saddled with the amount of people that issue effects. Solidarity doesn't exist where needs, wants and requirements aren't the same.

Solidarity would be ALL parties (line, city, dock) speaking with each other and deciding what is the best, across the board, for ALL. I’ve been on the “overpaid” side of it a few times. Companies pick the cheapest way to pass a contract & without my above scenario, it passes. The divide & conquer. And further divide as road (for example) feels “sold out” by their brothers.

I didn't join the teamsters for a brotherhood or solidarity, I did it for certain rights under the contract and law . It is that simple for me . I am not part of the socialist workers movement.

I would encourage stewards to have regular, casual “meetings” to drive participation. No one has time for quarterly dog & ponies at the hall. Especially when we make good money, work too much & miss our families. Meeting with small groups(all classifications) at the shop, monthly for ten minutes doesn’t put anyone out and sets a tone that we’re in this together.
