YesYou aren't sully are you
Thanks SuperCourse! I didn't think anybody would still be swirling around out there... You were a Brooklyn driver? That picture is before my time- is that a regular PR unit? When I got there, there were no whites and everything was already yellow. Are you still driving? I just retired at the end of this past june. The last time I rode the BQE, that bridge was gone and I think the building might be too. If it still exists, it's below the new koch bridge.
Custom, I didn't drive for Plymouth Rock, I drove for Roadway. I just posted the pics for the sake of the younger guys that don't know what a PR truck looked like. I haven't been across the BQE in over 30 years.
Damn SC, you're old, an outfit called Interstate, their trucks were painted similar to these.
OK SC- Got it. That explains why you didn't actually say anything! I worked city P&D for yellow out of Allentown PA before I went to PRock.
Did Red Star buy Plymouth Rock or was it just their accounts? I grew up in Stonem (Stoneham) from 1953 to 1962. My father worked for Capitol Motor FreightI worked at stoneham untill it closed. I was there about 5 years. I peddled boston to south shore.

Red Star bought the accounts and the driver list. What I heard is those that those that elected to be absorbed into Red Star were never used- not once; and when you gave up and started filling out applications they wouldn't even verify your employment with them. So I think they just intended to use the customer list- everybody else just get lost.
I had worked for Red Star previously as a casual out of Kutztown, PA. so I knew not to go that way. It didn't surprise me that they were ok with wasting the time of so many drivers having them waiting for work calls that never came.
Yes they did. I know that at the Red Star Newark terminal the CBL & Valerie drivers work right up until the shutdownDidn't Red Star buy CBL & Vallerie around the same time??
Maybe they were buying customer lists to fill their empty lanes???
Faster and cheaper than building up their own business...
