Arkansas Best has top quarter

Arkansas Best Corp. said Monday that tonnage growth and price increases helped the holding company’s carrier division achieve its best-ever second-quarter operating ratio.
The parent company of the less-than-truckload carrier ABF Freight System Inc. also said it continued rolling out a “regional performance model” to capture a bigger part of the next-day, or second-day, delivery market. The regional market is where the holding company expects growth.
