ODFL | bid runs

Wouldn't it be nice to work for a company that bids once or twice a year at the same time every year? I think part of what powers the trucks at OD is BS the "NEW" bio fuel.

Do they add or take away bid runs right after bidding at your terminals so a wild board driver gets a better bid than a seniority driver? Do they constantly bid new runs at your terminal or are you committed to the run you bid and the run that's available go to the next wild driver in seniority? Do drivers with a lot of seniority bid the wild board because they know there's a driver with a lot of seniority that's going to retire or can't run his run for medical reasons and they know they'll get the run?

This last go around everybody just stayed on there prior run. No new runs were offered. No changes whatsoever. The prime runs are all held by the upper seniority drivers though a few short mile runs that are good runs go to drivers that could be bumped but mid seniority drivers take longer harder runs because they need the cash. I think almost ever driver that is lower than 7 or 8th in seniority wish they could get off there run and often voice it. Some of those guys would celebrate if a upper seniority driver died you got to watch them a little bit afraid they might cut your airlines. We know who they are and work together to keep them corralled. Though mostly all is good. We got around 20 linehaul no present wild though we have had them before.
