Big rig crash spills more than 1000 cans of Bush’s Baked Beans

A semi truck was involved in a single vehicle crash on Monday in Tennessee, spilling its cargo of baked beans.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, February 27, in the 7200 block of Newport Highway in Greene County, Tennessee.

Sixty year old truck driver Troy Butler was hauling a load of approximately 1,060 gallon cans of baked beans from the Bush’s plant to Sopakco, Inc in Greeneville.

The truck went slightly off the road, then overturned on the soft shoulder, according to the Greeneville Sun. The vehicle also struck a utility pole and came to a stop resting by an unoccupied home.

The trailer broke open and spilled the load of baked beans out onto a grassy area.

Butler did not suffer serious injuries.

All lanes of Newport Road were reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
