Bomber pilot helped land airliner after captain fell ill

From the story:

Although he never suspected he would have to fly the plane, piloting a B1B bomber isn’t too different from a 737, Gongol explained.

“A plane is a plane,” he said. “It’s like the difference between driving a pickup truck, or a sedan. The same skills transfer.”

Actually, it is more like driving a big truck, not a car or a pickup. Airliners and bombers weigh about the same as a semi truck.

It is a great story, for sure. Having someone step forward to help out at a time like that is what makes us who and what we are.

Oh, yeah, and I'm not a pilot, but I have flown light planes, and once even a WWII medium bomber. (And I did not stay in a Holiday Inn last night)
