It states for custom critical. All boxes MUST be white and all cargo vans MUST be white. But you are right. It apperantly does not matter what color the tractor or cab is.

True that - however, Passport is a subsideary of Custom Critical and their guidelines are not the same as regular surface expedite and white glove trucks. While it is no where on the passport.fedex.com website, i was talking to some of the guys from there, and when they purchase their next truck, it will be white - if your truck only has a certain "life span" on it now, you can leave it green. If it is a newer model and will be in service more than X amount of years, its repainted to white. Personally, the all white looks much better than green and white. http://community.webshots.com/photo/550722777/2431029730058804159vFQRQK

Why would you want to know these things......before the anoucement you were worried about your hubbies job now it sounds as if your tring to figure how he can capitalize on the situation......... How about we all be glad this seems to have worked out the best we could have hoped for under the circumstances and let the dust settle for the WAI guys before we go there. sorry if i misunderstood your intentions.....still a little num here

OMG! I did not mean it to sound that way... My husband was formely with Watkins and I know many drivers and thier wives and families.
I was asking out of curiousity.:chairshot: I am sorry if it came accross in any other way.

I wish nothing but the best for Watkins Drivers and certainly would never try to capitalize on the situation.

Apologies to all offended by my asking...

Rattlesnake,

thanks for the good posts about FEDEX. Discounts and everything else you included. Hopefully it will be a smooth transision and all positive I just hope there are not enough bad apples to spoil the whole bunch. It will be overall positive. I look forward to seeing all of the Watkins people hopefully bringing that "family" type atmosphere we like to have over to Fedex. Good luck to all of those drivers out there who are not worrying because they know that they are a good quality driver!

Doug D. was the CEO of Viking and then was promoted to Memphis to be the CEO of FedEx Freight. 2nd in comand is Pat R former CEO of AF. The reason I bring this up is because both of them have done a good job trying to keep the family atmosphere around. Sure some things have changed but its turned us into a major player in the LTL market. The same will hold true for Watkins. The current Watkins CEO will operate FedEx national LTL, that will help the transition.

For what it's worth, FedEx Freight is currently running both red and white tractors. The red ones are those that originally belonged to AF.

Now...I figure if FedEx isn't painting their OWN trucks white, they're not likely to ask an O/O to paint his, either. What he buys the next time is a different story.

But FedEx has about 20% of their work force as contractors, so I figure they know how to treat them. Those I know who work for Custom Critical really like it.
