Recently took the Haz Mat Recertification on the Insideaveritt website and was reminded of Averitt's trailer chocking procedure.. There is an issue that I have with that policy with this company.

Averitt's rules for the chocks are "Chock should be placed in front of tandem that is closest to the dock". :17113:

In all of my prior training at other companies it has always been place the chock under the furthest wheel from the dock.

This makes the most sense because if the trailer rolls away from the dock and the chock is under the furthest tandem from the dock, the closest tandem has a chance of stopping the roll. Not so if it is under the closest tandem to the dock.

Does anyone else see my point on this? Who the heck came up with that goofy a$$ ruling? Is it from the ex rock-hauler that is head of our safety dept? Good grief.
