R&L | Cost of Living Increase Given To....

While all of you defend R&L... just know YOUR Cost of Living Increase went to the hiring of a Yacht Captain in January.... For their 3rd yacht.... If the economy is so bad and R&L is struggling, does this make sense???!!! Probably part of the hiring agreement for Bobby Z and the Crew.... In January Floridian meeting, drank 16 beers before meeting ever started.... Bet the future of R&L was made at that meeting!

I have always liked my job... But have witnessed first-hand the downfall happening.... I am not ticked at R&L, more sickened with what the Family has done lately.
 
Where do you get all this stuff?? Why you must either be an insider, or know an insider, or be doing an insider.
You really should consider a career change, why you're a prime CIA potential candidate.

As far as the COLA going to a "Yacht Captain" as you say, I really don't care. It's their money and they can do what they wish with it. That's what is know as freedom, one can freely choose to do whatever they wish, for now anyway.
 
If no cost of living increases why did the salesmen get raises in January? That is my biggest complaint in the whole deal.
 
This is not a socialist company,they are not required to share ALL of their wealth. The Roberts are into more than just trucking,but you would know that if you REALLY know as much as you say. If you do not like it here then move on,there are plenty of people out there that would LOVE to have your job. While other companies are cutting back or shuting down,we are the ONLY ones out there hiring drivers. I take that back-I hear commercials on the satelitte radio that Schneider and J.B. Hunt are hiring,maybe you should go there. I personally like being home everyday and making what I make. Grow up or move on,no-one owes you anything.
 
Capnmac - leftlanecruiser is a roberts or one of their puppets paid to post warm and fuzzy comments about them..... You are right on w/ raises for sales people, or how about all their new cars... You know that cost big $$$$....

People talk and people do not like the roberts right now....

If you do not like it here then move on,there are plenty of people out there that would LOVE to have your job. True, but don't you think it's at least a little hypocritical to give the sales turds raises for doing the usual nothing that they do when they're not finding us more ::shit:: freight to haul, then deny the ones who actually do produce something for the company theirs, all in the name of "staying competitive"?

Sorry, but that offends me. If the fact that this offends me, offends you, then so be it. I wouldn't have a problem with it if everybody got stiffed, but just the drivers? That sucks, everybody knows it, and I defy you or anybody else to find someone who disagrees.
 
You are right sling blade... Plus they let you know they have been having record setting months, like march....

The economy is bad, but i think r&l saw their chance to get out of giving cost of living increases .... Everyone else is cutting hourly wages and not giving 401k contributions, so in their minds us drivers should just be thrilled to have a job.... That is what is boils down to, in my opinion....
 
In no way do i expect the family to share their wealth, but in the worst economy and without cost of living increases - don't you find it insulting, leftlanecruiser, they are adding expansions onto their home and swimming with the sharks in their homes, and tiling a carousel room?
 
What the roberts do I dont care unless it effects my check I think we have it good just ask conway or most other ltl I think driver 9 has a story behind him how does he know this is it true why does he care, I get sick of reading it I think he needs to crawl back into his whole and get his own life. maybe rl has one without him maybe thats the problem

You say you're sick, hate to hear that..... I am a driver who is out of wilmington, but have been based out of other terminals.... Clinton county is very small and everyone talks.... The simplist thing like going to the grocery or walmart usually results in knowing all of the latest happenings.... The common feeling in wilmington is disgust.... With dhl going out of business and everyone's hard times, for the expansion on 730 to happen during this... While truckloads of food is being delivered to residents.... Then to top it off, no cost of living increase..... Doesn't make them look to good, now does it?! Plus, the gossip after the parties and card parties.... everyone knows all.

I am sorry if anyone has deemed me to be rude... I work at R&L right now because it pays the bills and feeds the four kids, plus the insurance.... But I think being in Wilmington, you hear and see more than you do at other terminals.... I think that if we don't get Cost of Living Increases than everyone should have the right to know exactly why.... I do my job and do it well.... I just know that most are upset and don't feel safe.... Are we, drivers, and the dock next out the door - in order to make room for YRC drivers and dock workers who need jobs.... That is the impression the Family has given, if they don't like that, then maybe they need to look at what has been done to make everyone feel that way... That is as honest as it gets....

With all the flyers and crap the city drivers hand out they should have gotten half of what the salesman get.... You guys already do half their job.

I especially remember watching the employee conference on my computer and either one of the Robert's or Zimmerman (I can't remember who) said that R&L is "not" partcipating in this recession. That said then why is business better then ever and no increase? Like driver9 said, just an excuse for the company to not give us an increase.

It does affect your paycheck. I know for a fact a sales lady in Norwalk makes $1700/wk(+ or -) + car + gas + blackberry = no cost of living raise. I am sorry it probably doesnt affect your paycheck. Tell me what drivers make $1700/wk, tell me what "loaders" make $1700/wk. I certainly dont as a driver. I am sure the drivers in Norwalk would like to know. You know how angry they get and how bad thoughts run threw there heads.:smilie_132::smilie_132::loser:

Thank you... I recall that same line... And how long did that last?! Until April. Who represented your terminal at the Employee Conference? From Wilmington, it was not even a driver or a dock worker.... It was a secretary who just started for the Company.... Now how does she represent the majority of employees in our Wilmington Terminal?
Now why waste the money in faking an employee conference in the first place? That had to cost big $$$, flying everyone in and feeding them all..... Waste...
 
R+L

A driver that states he is a R+L driver. Which am not sure of that. Goes on the YRC page and puts down the Company that gave him a job. If he is a R+L driver. YRC drivers everyday are laid off. R+L went out and got YRC sales personnel. And with that they bring accounts with them. This called taking care of your own Company. The one thing they are not doing is bring in the union drivers from YRC. Why infest a union free company. I was once a union driver in Philadelphia local 107. 1975 I was fresh out of the Navy. My father was my driving teacher. 35yr union driver. Almost kill trying to help break up Jimmy's Union. And break away group called Voice. But when that did not work he stay with the union. I now need a job. I get my Lic. and I report to the Union rep at AT Transport Term. $100. for him and $100. for the union. not one day in a truck. But I was now one of them. I am not sure if you can become a union driver that way any longer. So to the driver that hates R+L. Why stay give it a try. The Mob is still in the Union. Just not in the open as they once were.I delt with them everyday. Stealing freight off the dock. Stealing freight off my truck. I rather drive for R+L then any other Company. I hate working so hard. I hate Finger printing the freight. SAIA FED EX and so on. Sure I want a Cost of Living. But I want my job first.:clap:
 
Tell me what drivers make $1700/wk, I certainly dont as a driver.

I know of several company team drivers that gross over 2K a week, myself, I gross over 1500 a week on my L/H run.
The money is out there, you just have to be willing to do the work. But, some people don't seem to understand that concept.

Problem is with the tandems they eliminated most of the good line haul runs ,I was making 1400 a week and if i didn't bid into the city i'd be making 168 bucks a night
 
It is quite apparent that some people out there must be a sleep at the wheel. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree with everything that is going on. But we find ourselves in an environment that we have never seen. There is only one public trucking company that I know of that has made any money in the past six months, most have posted record losses. I personally don't care what the owners do with their money. I do feel we work for a good company. I believe some hard decisions have been made to secure the future of our company.

I would have liked to have seen an increase. I believe after 18 years of service and 18 years of increases we become to expect it. However I have friends that work at our competitors and they have all not only had their increases put on hold but have also give money back and forfeited 401k matches etc. I believe that this company will come out of this a much stronger company. However the only way this will happen is with the support of the 9000 plus employees doing our part to make it happen. This is not being focused to anyone in particular but to all who want to see this company succeed.
