A camera is installed on the windshield looking forward, there is also a camera on the tablet, we were told that camera is not active, that now a days you can't buy a tablet that doesn't have a camera installed at factory, they also told us we could cover that camera with a piece of tape or a sticky dot that they would provide. I don't think anyone is trying to scare anyone. What cameras??
You clowns will ruin any thread with your nonsense. Cameras is plural im assuming he has more than one tractor at his terminal.
I think if you haven't had the class yet then your problem not on the net yet, we had put class and started using them that day, still have a few drivers that backup with their paper logs, but I threw mine away the day we started using them, just had to carry 7 days worth when we started, it's a pretty simple system, there are still a glitch or two every now and then, but is mostly driver error in trying to get the start up going. As I stated earlier I like the elog because it does save a little time. Haven't been check by DOT yet but have heard that most of the time when they see the tablets they don't even ask to see the logs (from drivers that have had them for years). The main problem comes from people who hate change, but even the most diehard here have changed their attitude about them, but then some people will always find a problem with something new regardless of high good it might or might not be.I guess we are not in the elog system yet. I entered driver number in both lines and said invalid

If you need paper logs for some reason they are supposed to print up some generic to put in permit books, then when you turn them in they can add to the elog, anytime your log is changed you will get a message over the elog telling you. If for some reason you start a paper log and get pulled over and don't have 7 days worth, (after you have been using them for at least 7 days) you call your terminal and they can email the logs needed to dot. We were told that if a ticket is written for logs that Fedex would help us and try to make things rightWill we get just a book of generic logs or FedEx still going to waste money a print monthly logs
You don't have to down load log info, it is on the tablet, if you are asked for logs, give the tablet give it to the officer and they plug it in to their system, and are supposed to be able to get the information they need to see. With the GPS tracking and logs are downloaded it will show everywhere that you have had a change of duty, Just make sure that you always verify a duty change when you make it manually.Make sure you have the instruction sheet telling how to down load the log information !!!!!!
Make sure you know how to use the dam thing !!!!!!!
Thats what the DOT seems to want when they see your on E Log.
This is what was told to us by Souther region FMCSA man a few weeks ago.
