The very last paragraph of the article is why gas prices will not drop. The big wheel, warned production could sag. Oil industry terminology that is saying we will continue to screw over the consumer and the media will feed off this information.

In order to poof up their profits they should manufacture their own branded line of gasoline powered generators directed at the EV charging market for what some people would call carbon friendly motoring.
 
Id say the govt politicians are in the electric car so called green energy market and the oil companies market playing both sides and getting filthy rich from them.
