Yes XPO Logistics may be self insured but if they are responsible they are still reinsured against catastrophic loss.We are self insured. The company doesn’t pay rates or premiums. What ever happens comes out of pocket.
They didn't spin it off, they sold it. CFI belongs to TFI International now and I don't know if they still do business with XPO.Even though XPO Logistics spun off it's truckload division they STILL move enough truckload freight to be ranked in top 25 truckload carriers.

You are correct as far as selling to Transforce. $558 million dollars in 2016. Sold. Purchased in 2007 for $750 million dollars. Only a $192 million dollar difference. They didn't spin it off, they sold it. CFI belongs to TFI International now and I don't know if they still do business with XPO.
As far as XPO Logistics being 24th on a list of truckload carriers - note that this is with no tractors and based on drayage business ( asset light )Even though XPO Logistics spun off it's truckload division they STILL move enough truckload freight to be ranked in top 25 truckload carriers.

Exactly, we have at least two that intended to go to school and backed out choosing to stay in their positions, dock and csr! What does it say about driving jobs when you can't convince dockworkers to enroll in the CDL training classes?

XPO still has a trailer manufacturing division.

If you don't sell it off , I guess you just let it dwindle down to nothing.

I’ve been telling kids this for years. Learn a trade, there’s the money! I know first hand. I’ve been to school with essentially two degrees and have taught school. Yet, here I am. I value education, college turned out not to be my best choice.I don't know what good college will do. Unless you have a real goal. Most people waste their degree. At least almost everyone that I know with a degree has taken a job with nothing to do with their studies.
Learn a trade. Plumbers and HVAC and so on. There are so few that are capable or skilled in these trades any more.
Road Systems has never been a big player. Their two biggest customers over the years have been Con-way Freight and Consolidated Freightways. FedEx bought one batch from them once as a test and never went back for more.XPO still has a trailer manufacturing division.

Here are the top 3...and then towards the bottom...XPO at 20. Down by almost 1200 trailers from the pervious year.

You'll get no argument from me. I see all the Sterlings still running around on linehaul. I was just pointing out that Road Systems has never competed against the top 3 and they pretty much exist to rebuild Con-way's trailers for them (how many are legitimately new and not reboxes from the 80's?) so it's basically up to XPO there. The point here is that they are not making any capital investments in our fleet. We are short equipment and drivers. No effort is being made to change either. The only money being spent is on sales. They want new business and more freight. Even though there is no way to get it moved.
Driver goes to FAC and sees a driver backing a 53 footer in. Asks the driver why are you running with a van? : We don't have enough dollies to hook sets at my barn. FAC has to fire up drivers to take freight to service centers every morning. Why? They don't have enough drivers to run all of their bids due to lack of equipment.
