What makes you think they can't do that to the pension? Conway got rid of theirs years ago. Its common place with companies trying to minimize their long term liabilities.

Did they continue to fund it at a rate that would allow for someone to retire on it?

Did the amount employees would get from it continue to rise with years of service?

Did they not offer a higher 401k match to those who were in it to make up for it?

They got rid of it, few people left at xpo qualify for it or even know it existed.
