People are Libertarian when it involves their money, but they don't want to privatize the cost of community. Just look to the poor state of our infrastructure.
BTW how dare you insult me with wickapedia. You see, this is my point, we don't think for ourselves anymore. When I was in school the teachers taught us to think for ourselves, but no longer.
Now we allow others to spoon feed us what we should think and feel. So when someone actually thinks for themselves it seems weird somehow.
1. I'm not really a fan of Ayn Rand but you are the one who decide to comment on the post.
2. It's WIKIPEDIA, perhaps that government run school didn't do such a good job after all.
3. If schools aren't teaching people to think for themselves then isn't that an argument for competition?
4. The state of our infrastructure has more to do with corruption and misappropriation than a lack of will. Politicians (of both parties) are constantly raiding funds that are set aside for specific projects. Pick up a newspaper, it's hard to go a week without a story of someone stealing money, from a city clerk, to a school principal, or even a football coach stealing equipment and selling it on Ebay.
5. Our education costs are some of the highest in the world and yet our test scores are pathetic, how much more money should I throw at a broken system?
6. If people don't want to pay for the cost of community then explain the desire for school vouchers? People who have an opportunity to get a chunk of their tax money back are more than willing to pay the extra cash to send their children to private or magnet schools, see Washington D.C.
7. In 2000 under Bill Clinton federal spending was roughly $1.8 trillion dollars. Was this country in utter chaos? Were people starving in the streets? Eating cat food and walking around with nothing but rags for shoes? I don't think so.
In 2012 federal spending was slightly over $3.5 trillion dollars. Does every city have new roads? Brand new shiny schools? Has poverty and hunger ended? NO
I'm not sure who you think is spoon feeding me thoughts, but I will make a statement that you're not likely to hear anywhere so consider it my original thought.
There is a "Red Line"...when the government takes more than 50% of what I earn everyday. When you add up all taxes and fees we are rapidly approaching that number. At that point I am no longer a free man, the only solution......Revolution.
