U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong, who took a giant leap for mankind when he became the first person to walk on the moon, has died at the age of 82, his family said on Saturday.

I can still remember, along with millions of others glued to our TV's, watching him take that first step on to the moon on that hot Sunday night in July of 1969 and tingling with excitement at what we had just witnessed. Sad to learn he has passed.

The drill instructor told all of us maggots during mail call that the good ole USA just put a man on the moon.
