reading the posts on here I think the majority 12000 plus voters really thought there was going to be something after this. There is'nt. Atleast not since yesterday at 4pm. KK who is a friend of mine thinks there is. He has said YRC won't go down. He has even said that quoting Welsh when he said bankruptcy is not an option as the reason. But what Welsh meant was that a restructuring bankruptcy is not an option. Plain and simple brothers and sisters is that in that type of bankruptcy the judge could basically gut the contract. He/she could cut our pay make us pay for our insurance and more.

I've heard alot of conversations this weekend. Not on here. And my take is that Local leadership failed to convey how serious this was. They from what I've heard is that they think too that there will be something else now. My local pretty much laid it on the line. And a majority of our guys voted it down. Not by as big a margin as some but they voted it down.

My biggest reason for voting yes. I trust my local. My life is in their hands. And has been for the last 25 years. But I did'nt want to find a job this late in the game. And now after the votes have been counting my brothers and sisters have asked what's next. There is no plan B. There never was. Will there be? That I don't know. But I do know we just voted ourselves out of a job. Deregulation was the beginning.

I don't believe this was the time to fight. And you can call me what ever you want. I'm like a duck it rolls off my back.
Why would anyone want to lose this job and go into the job marketplace. When we have a job that pays over 20 bucks an hour and paid Insurance????????????? I spoke to a woman the other day and she said I can get you a job with paid insurance no problem. Guess what the deductible was? $2900.
If we don't evolve we die.
TDU wants the UPS Freight guys to turn their contract down. Stupid. They were bought for a billion and could'nt sell it for half that.

You don't actually expect someone to believe you do you????? GOOD LUCK on that one buddy. The TDU-- TEAMSTERS FOR A DIVIDED UNION.

If we don't evolve we die.
TDU wants the UPS Freight guys to turn their contract down. Stupid. They were bought for a billion and could'nt sell it for half that.
So in other words you have 25 years in so ride it out, accept whatever they throw at you & screw everyone else. You worked 1 day after the vote how do you know their is no plan B?

So what you are saying is it the Members fault YRC will close because we would not take it up the Hershey highway for the 3ed time?
Management didn't do a thing wrong eh?
The members put this company over a BILLION dollars in debt?
Your point of view assumes that the Members(Non Union workers also) would bail this mess out with more cuts and rule changes that would effect future Teamsters. With a Management team that took the last 2-3 years of pay cuts and basicily did nothing to reduce the debt! (Sounds like Congress right?)
I respect your point of view. Because when it comes right down to it the Members were the only place where they could find any cuts. But they didn't want to trim a little, They wanted to cut a frekin leg off!
As much as this pains me to say if YRC is going to go under then let it! Most of us would have worked with the Company. But what they offered? No! Way too much!

Voting Yes on a POS contract would save this company for how long? Until the next time a loan is due? This company didn't deserve a yes vote. They beat you up day after day, at every morning meeting about how bad you performed, they had no flexibility when it came to arriving late for work when traffic in the metro area was a nightmare, their archaic work rules when it came to safety, the blaming of all the problems of the company towards the Teamsters. These people couldn't manage themselves out of a paper bag. I'm not sure why they thought it would pass.
When would it all end for the people who voted yes? When all of your hard fought rights are gone? For what, just to keep your diminishing paycheck, and health coverage? If this companies culture was different by treating people with dignity and respect, and not trampling all of our rights then maybe the outcome would have been different.

Nope I am not saying it's the members fault. But we were the only ones that could save it. Sucks but it's true. The man closest to the task is the only one who really knows how to do it. It's the company's fault that we are here. It's Zollars and his board that would allow him to buy Roadway then Holland and the China thing. You guys keep talking about non union and how you are taking it up the arse with the change in work rules. But it's YRC and ABF vs Estes FedEx, Conway and the list goes on. So you are out numbered and still pound the table for all these work rules that the majority don't have. You are making demands from a postition of weakness. What has to be done is keep YRC and ABF going. Does mgmt make good decisions? Hell no. If YRC goes out sure you'll get up and go get another job. It won't be like this one. You won't make as much and you'll be paying for your insurance so if you stay at YRC you won't be taking it up the arse as bad as you think. But it has bigger implications than just your job brother. Local unions will have to merge. BA'S and staff will undoubtably lose their jobs too. And our pensions will take even a bigger hit. Do you think ABF will be able to last through this? They don't project to grow that much when YRC goes out. And they probably won't last to their next contract when their unfunded liability doubles and triples. So its not just about your job brother. It's way bigger than just that.

My biggest reason for voting yes. I trust my local. My life is in their hands.
And there lies the biggest problem. That you and others feel like you're going to die when the YRC titty dries up. You won't but you might get thirsty for waiting too long. I know a large handful of former YRC employees personally, most of them at ABF now but some in non union jobs and none of them are unhappy with their decision to move on. Additionally many PJAX/Vitran drivers are out and about filling voids all over the country. I don't wish you out of business or out of a job but we are all sucked into this vortex and it needs to be stopped. ABF's yes voters didn't do their share and I am glad the guys at YRC finally said enough is enough. May this be the beginning of a better tomorrow for us all.

I know 100s of roadways guys that were put out when this 1st started . I know 100s more that were put out after the merge .
Some are still driving trucks ,many are not, but 1 thing I do know most if not all are still alive and working and the 1s I do talk to are happy they got out of this mess and are mostly happy doing whatever they do now and never look back.

Amen brother

If there was no plan b ....they're worse management team then we thought & the gates would be locked already !!
I doubt that that will happen as long as Welcher's pay check continues to clear.

People are resilient and for the most part will move on and make do regardless of what happens at any corporation. The bottom line here at YRCW - and it doesn't matter which way anyone voted - is that if they cease operations, Teamsters and organized labor in general will take a big hit at at time when private sector organized labor is on the decline in this country. Regardless of "yes" or "no" voting, that's the bigger issue.

Because there is'nt. Are you going to revote this that was already turned down? There won't be a revote. Do you think they will come back with a little more or a lot more to offer. They already said this is what the banks want. 100 mill in savings. So your not getting anymore. The bank just walks away we default and doors close. Bankrupt. There's your plan b

after 25 years you still put your life in the hands of the Union and believe everything they say ! time you open your eyes! no wonder you believe everything the banks and the company says also. don't worry if they go down I have a bridge in Brooklyn you can invest in.
