A commercial vehicle driver was ticketed following a rear-end collision with a Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) snowplow, according to state police.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, on I-80 west of Rock Springs, Wyoming.
A WYDOT snowplow was removing snow at mile marker 125 on I-80 when it was struck by a truck.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), “the commercial truck driver was trying to pass another car in the left lane and collided with the back of the snowplow, causing both vehicles to enter the median.”
The snowplow driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The truck driver was cited for for speeding too fast for the conditions and careless driving, according to WHP.
WHP is asking to drivers to slow down, increase their following distance, and use extreme caution when driving on snow-covered roadways, especially when passing snowplows.
So far this winter, 22 WYDOT snowplows have been hit, WHP says.
