Trucker killed on Thruway

Plattekill – An early morning accident on the Thruway in the Town of Plattekill claimed the life of a 57-year-old truck driver.

Thruway State Police at Newburgh said the 5:30 a.m. accident occurred when James Dillon of Whitehall, NY was driving a tractor-trailer truck and began to pass another tractor-trailer rig when he encountered debris that had apparently fallen off another truck.

He swerved to avoid it, ran off the left shoulder of the road and down an embankment when he struck several trees and overturned.

Saw this one yesterday, extremly nasty.
He was hauling a load of rolled paper and must have beeen pretty heavy.

He laid it down on the drivers side and ground the cab up pretty good.
