It's better to be proactive than reactive in severe weather conditions.
Officials should have shut down the Interstate like they dad the last time instead of trying to seemingly blame truck drivers.
Had it only been cars piled up, this would probably be a non issue towards truckers.

Trucking Laws Scrutinized After I-94 Pileup

What an idiot!!

A federal trucking law might prevent tragic pileups like the one that happened in Indiana, according to a Chicago-area attorney.

Kenneth J. Allen is an advocate for strong commercial truck safety. He points to the law that requires truck drivers to slow down in hazardous conditions.

How about we take a look at the idiots we're putting behind the wheel and calling them"truck drivers"?

These idiots we have driving trucks today, don't have a lick of sense. They tailgate each other, cut each other off, tailgate cars, and just drive like complete idiots. We have idiots training other idiots how to drive a truck. Why don't we look into some regulations on how training companies train new drivers? That would be a start.

I guarantee you I can drive in way worse conditions then a car driver can, and do it much safer.

I fully agree Guardrail.

Also:

The thing is, nobody slows down when they are supposed to. Drivers of cars as well as trucks.

And not just in bad weather. Go into a construction zone, or pass workers on the shoulder, and breakdowns. I move over for these things, and slow down for the orange barrel zones, and jerks pass me on the right or left, hauling ass like they can't be bothered by a delay that only lasts a few seconds.

Someone needs to take those idiots and tie them to a post, planted on the fog line.

If there were not any trucks involved we would have never known about it at the national level.

what about enforcing the laws for 4 wheelers to stay off the roads in bad weather as well..????

what about making them more culpable in accidents..??

what reason's do 4 wheelers have to be on the roads when the weather is bad..??

going to work..?? going to the casino's....??? going out for a pizza..???

what the lawyer said...
"driver is supposed to be anticipating hazardous conditions and avoiding danger, not encountering it," Allen said

well then by that SAME reasoning......don't many 4 wheelers watch tv, or listen to radio weather reports, and doesn't that make them "anticipating weather conditions"...???.

typical lawyer BS...and not even a lawyer form the state where the accident happened.>!!!

That federal law won't do a damn thing to curb these accidents. What makes the FMCSA think truckers will adhere to their law when they didn't adhere to INDOT's warnings?
